Seated Positioning

Seated Slings

MedCo Technology Seated Slings can be placed and removed while the patient remains seated. A pocket built into the back of the sling lets caregivers ease it into position behind an upright patient, so a transfer can start and end in a chair.

Many seated slings have to be worked out from underneath the patient, which means a return to bed or laying them back to clear the fabric. Ours are cut so that only a minimal amount of fabric sits beneath the patient — enough to support the transfer, little enough that placement and removal happen with the patient upright, making a true seated-to-seated transfer possible. A variety of positions are easily achieved using intelligently designed straps, with no plastic stays, bulky padding, or sewn edging holding the capacity — nothing rigid at the patient interface to create pressure points.

Our Seated Sling line is available in Single Patient, Advantage, and Apex fabrics, plus a low-profile Mobile Seated Sling.

Safer Seated Transfers

Protection on both sides of the transfer

Seated transfers put caregivers in some of the highest-load positions in patient handling. Slings that are slow to place, or that must be pulled from beneath a seated patient, invite the twisting and reaching behind most handling injuries. Ours keep the load on the equipment and off your staff.

Our Seated Slings distribute weight evenly, without the ripples or folds that concentrate pressure against skin. Elongated leg tabs allow secure placement without lifting, and multiple loop attachment points work with any hook and loop overhead or portable floor lift, including the MedCo Technology Gantry and the rest of our lift and transfer equipment.

MedCo Technology Single Patient Seated Sling in use

Single Patient Disposable

Single Patient Slings

MedCo Technology Single Patient Seated Slings are constructed from a durable, moisture-sealed flight satin. Assigning one sling to one patient keeps it out of the cross-contamination pathway, and the sealed surface lets caregivers wipe it clean when soiled rather than pulling it from service. The result is a sling that stays with the patient for the length of a stay while supporting your infection prevention protocols.

Apex Reusable Fabric

Apex Slings

Apex fabric is an ultra-thin padded mesh engineered for maximum airflow and breathability, wicking excess moisture away from the patient’s skin — properties documented in our Sling Technical Data. Its controlled elasticity adjusts to body contours, distributing load and reducing the shear and friction that contribute to skin breakdown. Like all MedCo Technology reusable slings, Apex fabric withstands a minimum of 200 standard washes. Color-coded straps guide caregivers to the right attachment points.

Independent Transfers

Mobile Seated Slings

MedCo Technology Mobile Seated Slings use a low-profile back design, easily placed straps with multiple loops, and side support that won’t obstruct the arms or upper extremities during use. They’re designed for patients who provide self-care with an overhead lift system, and wheelchair users can transfer independently to and from their chairs using a hook and loop overhead lift. Available in both Advantage and Apex reusable fabric, with a 600 lb (272 kg) weight capacity across all sizes.
